Looking forward to the future

Hey people,

I am so sorry for the absence but I have been trying to rebuild my life. I am doing OK and I have news for you. Firstly, I am not going back to Iraq this year, maybe the next, however, I am not sure.
Secondly, I got accepted in The Department of Architectural Engineering, thanks to the 95% I got in my final year at school.
My picture was published in the newspaper for being one of the top students in my school AND My graduating party was amazing, I don't think I have ever felt that proud.

Finally, I am going to Jordan on 9/7/2009 for two weeks to spend part of the summer there.

I love you all and THANKS for supporting me.

Yours,
Raghda

Here's another quick note just to let you know that you have a loyal audience. I have followed your blog ever since Najma introduced you -- I forget exactly how long ago, maybe four years now? It was a pleasant surprise this morning to discover you had posted again. Your courage in the face of overwhelming hardship inspires me. I wish all the best to you, and I hope your studies at your new university go well. Do let us know how things are going. Is it too much to hope for a new post every three months or so?

Congrats on such high marks and being accepted to such a good college Raghda!! I have been reading your posts for a long time and wondered how you were doing.

It's nice to see that you are posting again. It is always sad when people stop blogging and vanish like a puff of smoke.

If you want a good book to read in English, I suggest "The Foutain Overflows" by Rebecca West. It is about a family in England roughly 100 years ago. It would be easy to find a copy on Amazon or similar. A beautiful book.

    Good for you Miss Raghda,
Your family must be very proud of you. Tell me, do you have kitties now? How are they? I, too, usually follow in silence but wanted to tell you I am proud of you. It has been many years since I heard you on our National Public Radio here in North Carolina, USA. Peace to you and your family. Have a safe and fun holiday! Georgena

Congratulations for all and I hope all the best for (but not from all my heart.... TIME will tell you why... at least ten years maybe)

    Have a nice holiday.

I wish you the best. I have popped in to see how you are doing now and then. Keep us updated when you can. We like cats too.

We have two dear cats that are just growing up. The boy cat (Specks) looks like he has glasses on, and is a big chicken usually. He is very vocal in the morning when we are trying to get one more snooze in.

The sister (Pixie) is a , well, pixie, she flitts all over the place.

If you have time, look at our blog and see some pix of them and our other stuff.

You can keep us updated there also, if you wish.

Congratulations, Raghda! You have grown up a lot in the years since I first heard about your blog on the radio here in America. I wish you all success at whichever university you choose. Even if you aren't living in Iraq right now, you are a great role model for Baghdad girls everywhere.

Enjoy university life - believe in your goals and always do your best - and please, keep posting!
